akevitt: the national drink, made from potatoes, often flavoured with herbs and spices, drunk icecold in small quantities

cardinalsuppe: diced ham soup with noodles and cream

gravlaks: cured salmon, stored under pressure in the dark, served with dill and salt

hvalkjøtt: whalemeat, popular in Northern Norway
hveteboller: sweet rolls with cinnamon and raisins
høns med ris: chicken and seasoned rice

kaffekringle: coffee flavoured bread ring
